Strengthening Global Partnerships for Climate Action through Sports.

The National Treasury PS, Dr. Chris Kiptoo  hosted Mr. Stefan Wagner, Chairman of Sports for Future, a German-based organization that unites athletes, sports clubs, and fans to address the global climate crisis. He was accompanied by the WWF-Kenya, led by CEO Mr. Mohamed Awer.

The delegation has planned to participate in a tree-planting exercise scheduled for Saturday,17th  May 2025 at Penon Forest Block, located in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry and Kenya Forest Service.

Sports for Future has partnered with WWF Germany and WWF Kenya to support our shared vision through an initial contribution of EUR 80,000. This funding will restore 40 hectares of degraded forest and provide 15 heifers to boost community livelihoods.
As the Patron of the Kaptagat Integrated Restoration and Livelihoods Improvement Programme, the PS  invites all partners, especially from the sports sector, to join us in advancing this 10-year vision for environmental restoration and sustainable development.
