Bilateral meeting with Birgit Pickel, Director-General for Africa at Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

This evening, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings , PS Dr. Chris Kiptoo engaged in a bilateral meeting with Birgit Pickel, Director-General for Africa at Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The meeting reinforced the strong and enduring partnership between Kenya and Germany, which has been cultivated since 1964.Germany has played a key role in Kenya's development, providing over EUR 2.5 billion in financial and technical assistance through KfW (Germany Development Bank) and GIZ (Technical Cooperation Agency). This collaboration spans vital sectors, including climate and energy, agriculture, health, water and sanitation, and youth employment.

Both parties emphasized the need for enhanced project efficiency and agreed on the importance of regular portfolio reviews and joint field missions with KfW to identify and address challenges, ensuring the timely delivery of projects.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, Dr. Kamau Thugge participated in this important meeting.
