PS Dr.Chris Kiptoo,CBS held High-level discussions with Mr. Rodrigo Salvado of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

On the sidelines of the 2025 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington D.C., Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo  held high-level discussions with Mr. Rodrigo Salvado, Director General of the Operational Partnership Department at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The meeting discussed  potential areas of infrastructure support for Kenya, as the country seeks to leverage its recent membership in the Bank to accelerate development priorities.Kenya officially became the 97th non-regional member of AIIB on September 5, 2024. This followed a historic visit by H.E. President William Samoei Ruto to the Bank’s Headquarters in Beijing, China—an engagement that underscored Kenya’s commitment to expanding its global development partnerships.

Through this membership, Kenya is now well-positioned to access concessional financing for high-impact infrastructure projects, particularly those aligned with the country’s national development agenda.                
 

This support is expected to spur inclusive economic growth and enhance regional competitiveness.
