Bilateral meeting with Dr. Zarau Kibwe during the 2025 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington D.C.

CS Hon. FCPA John Mbadi this held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Zarau Kibwe, Executive Director of the Africa Group 1 Constituency at the World Bank Group, on the sidelines of the ongoing IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.


The CS congratulated Dr. Kibwe on his appointment, effective October 2024, and urged him to support Kenya’s development agenda. He emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration to mobilize resources that will drive the country’s growth.Hon. Mbadi noted that Kenya’s economy is expected to grow by 5.3% this year, 2025, signalling a positive recovery outlook.

He also mentioned that the Kenya–IMF program, approved in April 2021, has undergone eight successful reviews and has supported critical reforms aimed at stabilizing and growing the economy.
The CS reaffirmed Kenya’s strong and constructive relations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, collectively known as the Bretton Woods Institutions. He pointed out the important role both institutions have played in supporting Kenya’s development priorities, advancing key economic reforms, and providing access to financing.


Dr. Kibwe on his part pledged to continue supporting Kenya’s development efforts, emphasizing the World Bank Group’s commitment to partnering with the country in achieving its economic and social goals. He also expressed confidence in Kenya’s recovery and reaffirmed his dedication to facilitating continued collaboration and support for the Kenyan government's Development Agenda.
