Earlier today, the CS National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon.FCPA John Mbadi met with Food and Agricultural Organisation Representatives, to discuss the GCF Proposal for Kenya at the National Treasury Building.
The GCF ( Green Climate Find) is the largest multilateral finance mechanism created under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change ( UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement.
They discussed the Government Cooperative Programme Project Agreement for the GCF titled " Transforming Livelihoods through Climate Resilience,Low Carbon, Sustainable Agriculture Value Chains in the Lake Region Economic Bloc".
This project leverages private sector involvement, smallholder farming networks, and the strength of Kenya's cooperative movement, creating a platform for technology transfer and scaling up efforts.
In addition, it will support community-led climate actions that focus on sustainable agricultural production, as well as the protection and restoration of ecosystem services, aligning with the UN food systems agenda.
