CS Hon. FCPA John Mbadi today commissioned the Kokona Community Borehole Project in Garsen, Tana River County, under the FLLoCA program.
The project will provide a sustainable water source to address the region’s persistent drought.
The CS also launched the rehabilitation of the Idsowe Small-Scale Irrigation Scheme, a critical initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and enhancing food security.
Additionally, Hon Mbadi presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Handaraki Footbridge, an infrastructure project designed to improve connectivity and accessibility for local communities.
Speaking at the event, the CS emphasized that the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program, implemented by the National Treasury, is an important initiative empowering local governments to address climate change and manage natural disasters.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to building collaboration among communities, national, and county governments to deliver sustainable, locally-driven solutions to environmental challenges.
“These initiatives underscore the government’s dedication to building climate resilience and driving sustainable development at the grassroots level. Together, we are shaping a future that is both sustainable and inclusive,” the CS said.
